Dear Jefferson School Families:

I cannot believe how quickly the summer has flown by and that we are almost ready to open school for another year.  My hope is everyone enjoyed a relaxing, fun filled summer and are preparing for the new school year to begin.  Over the summer, the staff and I read many professional books, blogs, listened to educational podcasts, and attended different professional conferences. We are excited to continue on our journey to provide the best education for your children. At this point we are ready and eager to reunite with our students!

Our theme for the 2018 – 2019 school year is “All Children, One School.”  Through this theme, we will learn about how to create a caring and inclusive school environment for all our children, the principles of Universal Design for Learning, and more dynamic ways to differentiate our instruction to best meet the needs of our students.  To help us with this charge, we have put together a syllabus of activities in which we will engage during our planned faculty meetings and staff development days, furthering our knowledge and experience in creating cutting edge learning opportunities for our students. We can’t wait to see your children thrive!

As always, we had some personnel changes in Jefferson School over the summer: We welcome, Ms. Kristen Scaglione who will be teaching 5th grade, Mr. Arthur Rodgers who will be teaching 1st grade, Mrs. Keri Skobo-Trought ABA teacher, Ms. Allyssa Roncallo, Jefferson Campus Aide. Ms. Leidy Ramirez-Franco, ABA Aide, Ms. Celine Benet, teacher of World Language, Dr. Caitlin Lostan, Behavior Analyst, and we welcome, Ms. Jen Curcio and Ms. Lauren Sachs, speech therapists.

One more thing to note: In our efforts to become even more environmentally friendly, we will continue to reduce the amount of paper we send home. The majority of the information you will need, including Back to School packets, can be found on our district website. The web address is Please proceed under the schools’ tab to Jefferson School, Resources, forms.  Please link to the PTO webpage for pertinent information regarding school events, volunteer opportunities, meetings, school hours, procedures regarding pick up and drop off, etc.

On the first day of school, it is my pleasure to invite you to attend our annual Pack the Park Celebration scheduled for 8:15 a.m. on September 4th.  This will be a good opportunity for you to socialize and reconnect with other Jefferson School families and for us to catch up.

Enjoy the rest of your summer.  I look forward to seeing you all in September.

 Joseph Cordero, Ed.D
